Having polled the highest number of votes of any current W-League captain selected in the team, Perth Glory skipper and Matildas forward Sam Kerr said she was honoured to captain the players’ team.

“It’s a privilege to be voted in the team and to be named as the captain is something that I’m very proud of,” said Kerr. “Being voted on by your peers makes this recognition very special.

“On and off the pitch it has been a very enjoyable season due to the team culture and I’m super proud of the players at the Glory.”

PFA President Alex Wilkinson said the team highlighted the outstanding calibre of players in the W-League.

“On behalf of the PFA Executive I would like to congratulate all those selected in the inaugural PFA Jetts W-League Team of the Season and for their contribution to what has been another highly impressive campaign for the competition on the pitch,” said Wilkinson.

“The quality of play has once again risen and the league continues to attract some of world’s best players. There is no reason why we can’t one day have the best women’s competition in the world.”
