Played in front of a wonderful crowd of more than 3000 fans at Boomerang Oval in Newman, the Glory minus captain Jacob Burns, Andy Todd and new recruits Robbie Fowler, Josh Mitchell and Michael Baird impressed for the second time this week.

“It was a great hit-out and the team did well”, was the reaction of assistant coach Ian Ferguson.

“The players showed a good attitude and it was also good to see the younger players do well in the second half.”

Former Socceroo Mile Sterjovski opened the scoring in the 24th minute from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box by Matt Osman.

Just two minutes later it was 2-nil when Sterjovski’s cross was headed home by Anthony Skorich.

The young striker then turned provider in the second half as he set up youth team trialist Jesse Makarounas in the 71st minute.

Makarounas has now scored three goals in two games after hitting the back of the net twice against Rockingham City.

The visitors minus World Cup stars Jason Culina and Shane Smeltz did pull a goal back with 7 minutes to play through Ben Halloran.
