Top of the table Perth aiming for Glory on Saturday

Following last weekend’s 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory Women is ready to put on another strong performance in front of their home fans this Saturday against Sydney FC at nib Stadium.

This time around will see the Glory have to compete without the goal scoring trio of captain Collette McCallum, Lisa De Vanna and hat-trick hero Kate Gill, who will all be out of action due to national call-ups with the Westfield Matildas.

The top-of-the-table Glory take on a Sydney FC side that will be without Ellyse Perry, Kyah Simon, Alanna Kennedy, Caitlin Foord and former Perth star Sam Kerr, who are also taking part in the Matildas- three-match qualifying tournament for the 2013 EAFF Women-s East Asian Cup.

Coach Jamie Harnwell is hungry to overturn last year-s embarrassing 11-0 loss with the then very young and inexperienced Glory outfit.

“It-s going to be a massive game, it-s the broadcast match and obviously our National Breast Cancer Foundation match to try and raise funds so we-re expecting a bumper crowd,” said Harnwell.

“It-s going to be in interesting game, we-ve got three Matildas out, Sydney have got five out so it-s going to be up to those girls who come in and show that they-ve got what it takes to be there and want to stay in the team.

“If we can go out with the same attitude and intensity we did last weekend, then I think that will keep us in good stead (to win the match).

“I think it will be a much closer game this week, but it-s tough to say with so many players missing. We-ll work on how we-re going to try and break Sydney down and hopefully they-ll be worried about us for the game and not the other way around.”

The much-anticipated release of the special pink and purple playing kit that Perth Glory will wear will take place tomorrow.

Part proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales will all go towards NBCF. Volunteers will also be collecting donations at the venue, while Football West will also donate $500 for each Perth Glory Women goal scored.

The first 100 paying customers through the gate will also receive a complimentary ticket to Sunday-s Hyundai A-League clash between Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Any fan with a physical ticket to the A-League match will also receive free entry to Saturday-s W-League clash by presenting it at the gate, so two matches for the price of one.

Kick-off against Sydney FC will be at 11.00am.
