Football Federation Australia (FFA) can today confirm the Hyundai A-League Week 9 midweek ‘Community- match between Sydney FC and Perth Glory has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, 18 January 2012.
The match, postponed due to severe weather conditions in Perth meaning the Perth Glory team could not travel, has been re-scheduled following consultation between FFA, host broadcaster Fox Sports, Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Campbelltown City Council and both Clubs.
The decision was reached to stage the game on January 18, 2012 and should prove to add significant value to the match day experience with the 5.30pm kick-off and school holiday timing increasing accessibility for the entire region to come out and enjoy what will no doubt be an incredibly exciting match.
“One of the main purposes of these ‘Community- matches is to bring the Hyundai A-League to new regions and markets in Australia,” said Head of A-League Lyall Gorman.
“Unfortunately the original match was affected by severe weather causing a postponement.
“With this re-scheduled date and kick-off time we hope to engage with a very large and supportive football public in the Campbelltown and greater western Sydney region.
“This will be a true celebration of football for the community in this region and we will look to make this an even more enticing proposition for the kids and students in the area to come out, support the game and get involved.
“This will be a great chance for the local community to get out and support their heroes and who better encapsulates this than local star Brett Emerton.”
Work between FFA and the Campbelltown City Council is also underway to increase the excitement and atmosphere of the overall event including special offers for kids and students as well as possible post match entertainment.
All tickets for this re-scheduled match will be honoured and refunds have been made available through Proticket and Campbelltown Stadium for those unable to attend on the revised date.
