Rosie Sutton-s 89th minute goal gave Perth Glory Women their first home win of the season with a 1-0 result over Adelaide United at Percy Doyle Reserve.

Sutton-s winner came after some very clever play and a wonderful cross in from captain Collette McCallum.

Glory coach Jamie Harnwell was full of praise for the way his side bounced back after consecutive home defeats.

“The way we started the game and the way we continued the game was fantastic,” he said.

“We needed the result and we got it…and they busted their guts out there today so I-m very happy.

“A draw wouldn-t have been good enough today…I said to the girls that this is the sort of result that can kick start a season.”

The first half was dominated by the home side in an improved performance from the previous week against Melbourne Victory.

The chances that fell the home side-s way warranted a goal with Sutton having the better chances and in the 42nd minute she should have had the ball in the net.

After creating some space in the penalty area, her first shot was scuffed with her left foot and her follow-up effort was toe-poked right into Melissa Barbieri-s body.

The second half saw the visitors build in stature and create their own chances which Glory had to deal with.

Lisa-Marie Woods had a cracking effort from 25 yards out saved acrobatically by an outstretched Chantel Jones in the 59th minute.

Two minutes later, Tiarn Powell scuffed a gilt-edged chance scuffing her shot wide after finding herself completely unmarked in the area.

With only seven minutes to go, Glory hearts were in mouths as Powell found herself in a dangerous area unmarked again after a poor clearance, but shot wide with a rushed effort.

Perth held tight throughout the second half though and battled well and arguably deserved their first clean sheet of the season, if not for a bit of luck and poor finishing.
