Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that two-time Julie Dolan Medal-winner Sam Kerr has re-signed with the club for the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable 12 months in which she has claimed a raft of awards including Young Australian of the Year, AFC Women’s Footballer of the Year, National Women’s Soccer League MVP and both the NWSL and Westfield W-League Golden Boot.

She has also continued to star for the Westfield Matildas, taking her tally of international goals to 26 from 67 games.

Kerr passed 50 W-League appearances for Glory last season and ahead of what will be her eighth campaign in purple, the Fremantle local is confident that her hometown club can make a major push for what would be their maiden title.

“I’m really excited to be back representing my home State again,” she said. “It’s great to be back.

“We’ve got a great group of girls in the squad at Perth Glory and I’m looking forward to us fighting for the Premiership this year.”

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata is understandably delighted that Kerr is back on board.

“As well as being one of the very best players in the world, Sam is also a fantastic ambassador for women’s football and a superb role model for all young Australians,” he said.

“We are incredibly proud of her achievements and delighted that she will skipper our Westfield W-League side once again this year.

“Representing her hometown club means a huge amount to Sam and she displays that pride and passion every time she pulls on the Glory shirt.

“She is a genuine superstar of the women’s game and we would urge everyone to get along to our W-League games this season to see her in action up close and unfiltered.

“We believe that Sam’s presence serves to further strengthen the W-League’s reputation as one of the best competitions in the world and would like to acknowledge the role of Football Federation Australia in securing her return.”
