Stat Attack: Mariners v Glory In Numbers

Glory v CCM 2021 - Dane Ingham on the ball

We may only have played the Mariners a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve still managed to unearth a stash of stats and numerical nuggets to ensure that you’re fully locked and loaded for Sunday’s showdown at Central Coast Stadium!

Glory In Gosford

Glory have won on each of their last three trips to Gosford, scoring ten goals in the process.

Two of those goals were scored by Andy Keogh who has found the net six times in his 13 career appearances against the Mariners.

(Almost) Perfect Percentage

Phoenix v Glory 2021 - Darryl Lachman challenging

Glory defender Darryl Lachman has a passing accuracy of 97% from his 213 passes in the central third of the pitch this season, the highest of any player to have made at least 100 passes in that sector.

Hot At Home

The Mariners have won each of their last three home A-League games, their best run of results at Central Coast Stadium since they strung together five consecutive victories

Wizard Of The Dribble

Daniel De Silva celebrates for Mariners

Central Coast’s former Glory attacker Daniel De Silva has attempted 42 dribbles this term which is three more than any other player in the competition.

The 24-year-old has also scored two goals in his ten previous appearances against his hometown club.

Milestones In Sight

Glory require another two goals to reach 600 in the A-League.

Diego Castro also requires a further two goals to take his career tally for the club to 50.

Stop Simon!

Matt Simon celebrates

Mariners skipper Matt Simon has been a thorn in Glory’s side over the years, scoring seven times in his 29 appearances versus the men in purple which is his third-best return against any club.

He has been on the winning side in 16 of those fixtures and the evergreen forward is currently in fine form having scored in four of the Mariners’ last five games.

Gosford Graveyard

It took Glory 14 attempts to secure a first ever regular-season win at Central Coast Stadium.

Ian Ferguson’s side did, of course, secure a famous penalty shootout victory in Gosford to secure a place in the 2012 Grand Final, but it wasn’t until November 2014 that a Nebo Marinkovic goal broke the winless regular-season run.

Cross King Kosuke

Glory v Brisbane Roar - VIP - Kosuke Ota on the ball

Kosuke Ota has made a big impression during his three appearances for Glory, delivering 18 crosses which sees him ranked second only to Carlo Armiento (22) in that category for the club.

Dane Ingham (15) and Nick Sullivan (12) round out Glory’s top four crossers.

Counting Cards

Glory boast the best disciplinary record in the A-League this season having committed just 69 fouls and picked up 12 yellow cards and zero reds.

The Mariners are ranked 11th (150 fouls, 19 yellows and one red).
