Stat Attack: City v Glory In Numbers

Thumbnail

We visited the stats store a little earlier this week to avoid the Christmas crowds and this is what we brought home…

Happy, to be at AAMI

Glory are undefeated in their last six trips to AAMI Park to face Melbourne City in the Hyundai A-League (W3, D3).

On their most recent visit, in Round 21 of last season, Tony Popovic’s men fought back from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw.

Familiar Face

Bruno Fornaroli celebration face v Sydney FC

Glory striker Bruno Fornaroli is poised to face his former club, Melbourne City, for the first time in the Hyundai A-League.

The Uruguayan has scored 29 goals at AAMI Park in the Hyundai A-League – the most of any player – in just 36 appearances at the Melbourne venue.

Home Comforts

Melbourne City have won their last four Hyundai A-League games on the bounce at AAMI Park.

Only once in their history in the competition have they won more games in succession at the venue – a five-game streak back in 2013.

Honours Even

Robbie Fowler celebrates v Melbourne Heart

Glory’s first ever meeting with Melbourne City (then known as Melbourne Heart) at AAMI Park ended in a 2-2 draw.

A Michael Marrone own-goal and a last-minute Robbie Fowler penalty earned a share of the spoils for the visitors.

Friends and Foes

A host of players have represented both Glory and City, including current City skipper Scott Jamieson, Bruno Fornaroli, Neil Kilkenny, Ivan Franjic, Tando Velaphi, Jamie Maclaren, Richard Garcia, Rostyn Griffiths, Simon Colosimo, Wayne Srhoj, Jack Clisby, Jeremy Walker, Adrian Zahra and Dean Heffernan.

Goals Galore

Jamie Maclaren celebrates

Melbourne City are currently the highest scorers in the competition with 16 and also lead the way for headed goals with four.

Former Glory man Jamie Maclaren has scored nine of those from just 12 shots on target.

Peak Passing Percentage

Perth Glory have a passing accuracy of 84% this Hyundai A-League season, the highest of any team in the competition.

Neil Kilkenny has attempted the most passes in the Glory squad (537), with an accuracy percentage of 85.5.
