Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Alyssa Mautz has signed with the club for the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season.

The dynamic midfielder is no stranger to Glory fans having made 14 appearances in purple during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 29-year-old impressed in the W-League for Adelaide United last year, scoring twice in 12 games, but is now really looking forward to returning to the West for what will be her third season in the competition.

“I’m so excited to be back at Perth playing for Perth Glory,” she said. “It’ll be fun to be back with such great girls. I hope we can make it back to the Grand Final this year which I’m pretty confident we can do given how much I’ve heard about the girls’ improvement over the last year.

“I can’t wait to get the season started!”

Originally from Missouri, it was her eye-catching performances for Texas A&M University that brought Mautz to the attentions of Sky Blue FC for whom she signed in 2011.

A move to Chicago Red Stars followed and the US Under-20 international has since gone on to become a club legend, chalking up more than 100 NWSL appearances, 24 of which came last season.

Her stellar performances in 2018 saw her named joint-winner of the Red Stars’ Iron Woman of Character award and Glory Head Coach Bobby Despotovski is confident that she will continue that rich vein of form in the W-League.

“Alyssa knows exactly what the league is all about and also knows many of her teammates from her previous spell with us,” he said.

“She’s a workaholic midfielder with great energy who is good in the air and we know she’ll do a great job for us.”

Further major signing announcements are expected in the very near future.

The new W-League season gets underway on Sunday 28 October, with Glory’s first home game on Saturday 17 November and you can grab your bargain membership HERE.
