Perth Glory will play against the WA State Team on August 21 as a special fundraiser for Mount Lawley Primary School that tragically burnt down four weeks ago.

Eight-five per cent of historic century-old school was gutted in the deliberately lit blaze on July 7, causing $9 million dollars- worth of damage.

Perth Glory captain Jacob Burns visited the school this morning to show his support.

“It-s been really inspiring to see how the school has bonded together through these challenging times,” said Burns.

“The children have shown great bravery and I hope we can raise a good amount of money from our game to assist with the rebuilding of Mt Lawley Primary School.”

While the Primary School is being rebuilt, Mt Lawley Senior High School-s soccer pitch has served as the temporary home for the classrooms giving the children a place to continue their learning.

School Principal Don Barba has been blown away by the community spirit over the last four weeks.

“It-s been remarkable, the community has come together in such a remarkable fashion, combining to make something very special happen,” said Mr Barba.

“We-ve built a school in 13 days and to see it now stand as a complete school is a testament not only to the government, but our department, our parents, and of course the community.

“Mt Lawley Primary School has had a great association with the Inglewood Football club and they-ve also come to the party to assist as much as they can.

“We-re so thankful.”

Part proceeds from the game will be donated to Mt Lawley PS while the school P&C will also raise money with a sausage sizzle on the night.
