Searching for State game Glory

A number of former Perth Glory players will take to the field for Western Australia when they tackle interstate raiders, South Australia, in the Stratco Cup to be played at Members Equity Stadium on Saturday 7 March.

Scottish born midfielder Marc Anthony is set to resume his playmaker role for WA in the big match and will suit-up alongside fellow midfielder David Micevski and defenders Ante Kovacevic and Ryan Townsend, all of whom who have played for Perth in the Hyundai the Hyundai A-League.

The cream of WA-s Premier League has been selected to play and WA Coach Robbie Dunn is confident that his team has the goods to deliver in the highly anticipated state clash.

The South Australian-s took the spoils last year but WA will be determined to square the ledger as they play their first competitive match on home soil for five years.

“We are really looking forward to the rematch and are very focused on trying to reverse the last result,” said Dunn.

“To be back on our home soil and playing against quality opposition in front of our own fans at Members Equity Stadium is very exciting and I know the boys will be up to the challenge,” he said.

The inaugural Stratco Cup clash at Marden Sports Complex in South Australia saw the hosts take the match 3-0 despite Anthony claiming Man of the Match in a performance that prompted his promotion to the Glory side late in the season.

Western Australia will unveil eight new faces in their 16 man squad, Dunn selecting an attack minded team to blast South Australia off the park.

The match will take place at Members Equity Stadium and tickets are available at the gate. Corporate boxes are also available for the game, for more information contact Ben Fitzpatrick on ben.fitzpatrick@footballwest.com.au or (08) 9422 6919.
