Perth Glory FC has boosted its line-up for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season, with the addition of central-midfielder Gyorgy (JU-ri) Sandor from Hungary for the next two years.

The 31-year old arrived in Perth this week and has been declared fit after undergoing a medical today.

Sandor comes to Perth after steering high profile Hungarian club Videoton to this year’s championship.

Videoton is best known for reaching the 1985 UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid.

Sandor made 136 appearances for Videoton and was club captain for the past three and a half years.

He was also a member of the Litex Lovech side which won the 2009 Bulgarian Cup.

During a six month loan stint, he also won the Kings Cup with former Asian Champions League winners Al-Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia in 2013.

Sandor, who was born in Ukraine, has represented Hungary nine times.

“I am thrilled to be in Western Australia and excited to be part of a new look Perth Glory this season. Australia has always been on my travel plans and my wife and I are looking forward to experiencing what Perth has to offer” he said.

“More importantly I am looking forward to being part of a team that I know will be pushing for finals this season” he added.

“The A-League is a competition that’s growing fast in reputation in Europe and I have been keen to see what the hype is about and it would be fantastic for Perth Glory to be part of that excitement this season”.

Perth coach Kenny Lowe said Sandor had the right mix of quality and experience to be a real asset to the current squad.

“Juri is a proven leader and winner and has played for his country so that shows the high esteem he is held in. He will bolster the team in the middle of the park and his quality and experience will hopefully allow the team to control games” Lowe said.

Sandor is expected to join the squad at training tomorrow.

Perth Glory memberships for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season are now on sale.
