Perth Glory women’s star Samantha Kerr has capped off a sensational 12 months, last night named the U20 Footballer of the year.

Perth Glory women-s star Samantha Kerr has capped off a sensational 12 months, last night named the U20 Footballer of the year.

At a special celebration in Sydney, Kerr, one of the games brightest talents shone at the Australian Football Awards.

Alongside Qantas Socceroos Mark Schwarzer, Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell, Kerr collected her award on one of the biggest nights in Australian Football.

It-s been a sensational year for the 17 year old from Kardinya, who scored the winning goal for the Westfield Matildas in the Asian Cup final against the DPR Korea.

Kerr, a right winger said she was thrilled to win the award but is now looking forward to the W-League season and helping Perth Glory qualify for the finals.

It-s been a big week for Kerr, with the international football program Football Mondial coming to Perth to spend some time with her for a special feature story to be shown in more than 150 countries.
