Sam in running for yet more Glory

Sam Kerr is in contention to receive yet another high-profile honour this week in the form of the 2017 RAC WA Sports Star Award.

Glory’s Westfield W-League skipper has, of course, enjoyed an incredible 12 months in which she has taken out a plethora of awards, including Young Australian of the Year, WA Young Australian of the Year, AFC Women’s Player of the Year, National Women’s Soccer League MVP and Golden Boot and the W-League Juile Dolan Medal.

And she would claim another piece of history if she were to be named the RAC WA Sports Star as no footballer has ever managed to win the award since its inception back in 1956.

Previous winners include the likes of Bobby Simpson, Dennis Lillee, Rechelle Hawkes, Steve Hooker and Ben Cousins, while golfer Curtis Luck claimed the honour last year.

The award ceremony is set to take place at the new Perth Stadium on Thursday 8 February and will be shown live on Channel Seven, or, if you’d like to attend, tickets can be booked HERE.
