Rising stars set to sparkle in green and gold

Two of Glory’s PS4 NPL WA regulars and another player currently on trial with the club are set to feature for the Young Socceroos as they tackle the WA State Team on Wednesday evening.

Callum Timmins, Walter Scott and Jacob Italiano are the youngsters in question, with all three having become more familiar to Glory fans after featuring for the first team in last month's pre-season friendlies.

And Glory’s NPL Head Coach John Gibson, is understandably delighted that the trio are being given the chance to shine for the Young Socceroos who are currently in the midst of a week-long training camp ahead of the upcoming AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers.

“The club puts a lot of hard work and resources into all of our young players and it’s nice to see that rewarded by our lads being involved in national team camps," he said.

“Callum and Walter are in our NPL squad, while Jacob is with the FFA Centre of Excellence and they are among the best of the 1999-2000 age-group in the country.

"They have the game tonight and another on Friday against the Singapore U-20 National team and it will be great to see how they get on.

"When they’ve featured for the first team, they’ve acquitted themselves really well and we’re looking forward to seeing them continue their progression.”

Another Glory youngster making significant progress is, of course, Daniel Stynes, who made his competitive debut for the first team in Tuesday night’s Westfield FFA Cup tie against Heidelberg.

And Gibson felt that the club’s NPL skipper made a strong impression when introduced from the bench at Olympic Village.

“I thought Daniel was really positive and affected the game and that was nice to see," he said.

Tonight’s game against the WA State team will take place at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium in Inglewood with a kick-off time of 7pm.

And Forrestfield's Hartfield Park will be the venue for Friday’s clash with the Singapore U-20 National Team, also starting at 7pm.
