The PG v Celtic FC Countdown.. 1 DAY TO GO!

1 DAY TO GO .. Perth Glory’s blockbuster international friendly against Celtic FC on Saturday, July 9 continues …

The biggest game this winter is TOMORROW. Kick-off for the clash between Perth Glory and Celtic at nib Stadium is 5PM.

Today we feature two hot strikers, Perth Glory-s Shane Smeltz and Celtic-s top goal scorer for last season, Gary Hooper

SHANE SMELTZ

Shane Smeltz is the A-League-s hottest striker and Perth Glory-s new international marquee player for the next three seasons. In 77 Hyundai A-League games, Smeltz has scored an amazing 49 goals, been crowned the leading goal scorer twice and also been voted the competitions best player.

The New Zealand international is also a star on the world stage, having scored a goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup against defending champions Italy.

Smeltz is the complete forward, classy on the ball, devastating in front of goal and super cool under pressure. His signature is one the great recruiting coups.

GARY HOOPER

After being released by Spurs as a teenager, Hooper started at the bottom of English football with Grays Athletic but quickly rose through the divisions thanks to his outstanding goal scoring ability.

However, it was at Scunthorpe United where he really made his name and became of the most feared strikers in the Championship.

Soon there were a number of parties interested in his services, but Celtic won the race for his signature last summer. Wearing the first No.88 shirt in Celtic-s history, he ended the season as the club-s top scorer with 22 goals.

He was also nominated for both the SPFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards.
