Perth Glory FC can confirm it has signed exciting Australian U-17 attacking-midfielder Kosta Petratos for the next 18 months.

Petratos, who turns 18 in March, takes his place in Kenny Lowe’s squad from today until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.

The teenager has spent the past two years at the Centre of Excellence in Canberra under the stewardship of former Socceroo Tony Vidmar.

“It’s exciting to be in Perth and to land a senior contract. I’m keen to show what I’ve got on the field for Kenny, the boys and most importantly the supporters” Petratos said.

He represented Australia at the 2014 AFC U-16 championships in Thailand where the team reached the semi-finals. Petratos is also the younger brother of Brisbane Roar attacker Dimi.

“I’m my own player and I don’t live in the shadow of my brother. We’ve always had a rivalry in the backyard growing up in Sydney and I’m sure if the time comes, that rivalry will shine again” the youngster said.

Coach Kenny Lowe said Petratos had a good pedigree and was the type of player the club had been looking for.

“Kosta is someone we’ve been looking at for a while. He’s a technical player and has played at a good level for his age, so he’s a good addition to the squad” Lowe said.

The club can also confirm it has extended the contract of young Perth born defender Aryn Williams until the end of next season.

Williams signed with the club late last year, on a short-term injury replacement but has since been given an extension until May 2017.

“I’m over the moon” Williams said.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Perth Glory ever since I watched them in the NSL days and always wanted to represent my home town team. Now I’m doing it and I couldn’t be happier,” he said.

Chief Executive Peter Filopoulos said the latest two signings were in line with the club’s four-year strategy.

“We’re making a conscious effort by investing in youth and where possible young local talented players” Filopoulos said.

Meantime the club can confirm it has parted ways with defender Antony Golec, who has signed with FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.

Golec played six times for Perth Glory FC after signing with the club in May last year.
