Perth Glory’s G4Z small-sided games will be hosted by Melville City Soccer Club on Saturday, July 9th.
Continuing to expand throughout 2011, Len Shearer Reserve will be the location of the fourth G4Z of the year after the success at Sorrento FC-s Percy Doyle Reserve, Fremantle United-s Hilton Park and Hyundai Stadium in Mandurah.
Callum Salmon, Community and Development Manager said,
“We are very happy with the amount of support the G4Z has received since starting late last year. We average over 100 footballers at each event and the standard has been extremely enjoyable to watch. We look forward to continuing the G4Z around the metropolitan and country areas”
Melville City is part of the Club Link Personnel programme and Grahame Davis, President of Melville City SC commented,
“Melville City Soccer Club is proud to be part of this initiative by the Perth Glory, we are happy to support any endeavour by our premier football team in WA”
Marcus Edwards, VP of Melville City-s Junior Boys agreed,
“The introduction of small sided football is such a massive step forward for the game development in our young players and I think it will have a profound effect on the Australia game in the coming years. So here at Melville City we are very proud to put our weight behind the Perth Glory and the introduction of their small sided football initiative – G4Z – all please come down and join in the fun, it will be a great day”
Upon registration, coaches will receive a Coaching Information Pack (CIP). This pack will give all participating coaches an insight into the development orientated environment we encourage at Perth Glory. We aim to allow players to
• Enjoy their Football
• Develop their individual techniques and skills
• Increase their positional sense and awareness
• Make their own decisions to effect play and ultimately learn from their own decisions on the field.
With the amount of interest we-ve had since beginning the G4Z small sided games we are expecting to confirm the maximum amount of teams so make sure you get your registration in as soon as possible!
