Football West is pleased to confirm that the match between Perth Glory and visiting Dubai team Al-Ahli will be held at nib Stadium on Tuesday 23 August.
Football West is pleased to confirm that the match between Perth Glory and visiting Dubai team Al-Ahli will be held at nib Stadium on Tuesday 23 August.
Al-Ahli has been in Perth for the past two weeks training and playing local teams and this Perth Glory match will be the culmination of their trip.
Football West Chief Executive Peter Hugg said: “This will be a great opportunity for local football fans to once more see Perth Glory take on a visiting international team as they prepare for the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season.”
An added attraction for the night will be the presentation of Italy-s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning captain and former World Player of the Year Fabio Cannavaro, currently a consultant and international ambassador for Al-Ahli.
The Al-Ahli if filled with stars including Brazilian duo Avelino Coelho and striker Grafite, who was Wolfsburg-s top goal scorer when they won the 2009 Bundesliga. Another exciting player in their ranks is Chilean international Luis Jimenez.
In attendance on the night will be the club-s Chairman Mr Abdulla Saeed Juma Al Naboodah, Chairman of the Al Naboodah Construction Group – one of the UAE’s leading brand names.

It is fantastic for Football West to see this come to fruition, and a great opportunity for fans to rub shoulders with immortals of the game.”
Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson said: “We are looking forward to the chance to play a quality side like Al-Ahli.
“Playing a team from the Middle East will be good preparation for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.”
nib Stadium gates will open at 7:15pm with the game kicking off at 8:00pm.

Please note that only the western side of nib Stadium will be open for use. Patrons are requested to use Gate 3 on the corner of Pier and Brewer streets to enter.
