Perth Glory FC Chief Executive Jason Brewer has today responded to the “Show Cause” notice issued by Football Federation Australia.

Please find his statement after today’s media conference in Perth this morning:

The notice received from the FFA was primarily in relation to an alleged failure by the Club to disclose certain non-cash benefits to players.

The notice was not in relation to ANY alleged breach of the club’s Salary Cap in this or in any season the club has played in the A-League.

The FFA has confirmed that the show cause notice does not allege that these payments resulted in the club exceeding the salary cap in any of the relevant years.

Categorically the Club has always operated within the Salary Cap for each and every Hyundai A-League season.

Categorically the Club is operating within the Salary Cap for this season.

The Club’s position on the alleged benefits, which relate to non-cash accommodation and motor vehicle benefits has been reviewed internally over the past several weeks.

I would like to stress the Club has not deliberately tried to conceal anything and has worked in a very positive and productive way with the FFA.

I would like to further clarify some comments from my media conference today, particularly in reference to the following quote: “…there have been certain benefits which the FFA has not provided sufficient guidance for certain members of the club as to how and what should be reported”.

I would like to emphasise that I was not suggesting the FFA has been negligent, derelict or remiss of its duty to provide guidance in relation to this matter, and over the past 6 to 8 weeks the club and the governing body have worked together in a very productive, open and transparent fashion. We will continue to do so as we look to finalize this matter over the next week.

I would particularly like to thank our fans and members who remain loyal and support us week-in week-out. Their support over this season has been integral to our success so far.

Furthermore I would like to wish the team and coaching staff the best of luck as they face a tough, but winnable battle against Adelaide United this weekend at Coopers Stadium.
