Perth aiming to fly past Jets

Kenny Lowe and his young charges will be aiming for their sixth straight win over Newcastle at Hunter Stadium in ROUND 16 of Hyundai A-League action this weekend.

Glory is undefeated in its last 11 matches against the Jets, including a current run of five consecutive victories.

Lowe said while it was an encouraging statistic, he wasn’t riding on the wave of past triumphs.

“It’s history it’s not worth anything. They’re on a little bit of an up, they started the season fantastically well then they plateaued and then they’ve had a big boost last week and it’s a tough place to go. I think they beat Victory there; it’s going to be a tough game, like every game in the A-League.

Michael Thwaite will miss this weekend but Glory Youth defender Ross Millard has been added into the mix. Should he play, Millard will be one of ten WA born or raised players to have featured this season.

Central defender Alex Grant returns to the line-up after missing out last week due to suspension and despite suffering a dislocated shoulder, Marc Warren will also take his place at left-back.

With a plethora of youngsters being blooded, Lowe said the mixture of experience from the likes of Captain Richard Garcia was priceless.

“Richard is fantastic; you can’t put a value on what he does. He organises people and runs the dressing room you can’t put a value on that. He’s been unbelievable value off the park especially for me…he really puts a shift in on and off the park” Lowe said.

Glory will head to Newcastle on Saturday before kicking off the match on Sunday at Hunter Stadium.

The match kicks-off at 2pm WST and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 505 and ABC Grandstand.
