Perth Glory NPL side welcomes former great Jamie Harnwell’s Sorrento to Ashfield Reserve on Saturday, in round 4 of the PS4 National Premier League WA (3pm).

Harnwell needs no introduction to Glory supporters, the defender holding the record at the club for the most appearances in the NSL and Hyundai A-League, playing 241 games in the purple.

Glory NPL Coach John Gibson said the youngsters need to start turning their possession into goals, and he is looking forward to a good game against the Gulls.

“We have started the new season well and have been seriously competitive in all three games,” Gibson said.

“The group are striving to be better all the time, and we’ll be looking do that on Saturday against a strong Sorrento side this weekend,

“We’ve performed pretty well in the first three games of the NPL season – unfortunately we haven’t been rewarded for the performances but the smallest of details are the big differences at the moment.

“The group has taken great confidence and belief in their recent performances whilst continuing to attain fantastic levels of character and attitude.

“We’ve reinforced a few things this week at training and the group, as always have responded positively, and we’re looking to put in another good performance this week.”

For youngster Jackson Morgan the game is another stepping stone for the season. It’s the 18-year-old’s first season in the Glory squad and he has forced his way into the side with some impressive performances.

Morgan is looking forward to taking on Sorrento and getting a repeat result from the last home game of last season when they won 1-0.

“The boys and myself are looking forward to this game, we’ve worked hard this week at training and will be looking to kick start our season with a win,” the defender said.

“The lads put in a good performance last week, but unfortunately it wasn’t the win we were after.

“We are eager to get a win this week, and hope to beat them (Sorrento) for the second time.”

Entry to Perth Glory NPL fixtures is free for Perth Glory members. Get along to Ashfield Reserve this Saturday, the under 18’s kick off at 11.00am, the under 20’s at 1.00pm and the First Team at 3.00pm.
