Scans have revealed Perth Glory FC midfielder Mitch Nichols has sustained a tear to his left hamstring.

The injury means the 25-year old will be unavailable for selection for the next 6-8 weeks.

Nichols will receive treatment, aided by Glory’s medical and fitness staff in a bid to make a speedy recovery.

After a solid season so far, Nichols said he was disappointed to have been hit by the injury.

“It’s frustrating to say the least and I really wanted to be part of the FFA Cup final and help the boys out. However the medical team has assured me I should be back on my feet soon after the January break” Nichols said.

“I wish the boys the best of luck against the Mariners this Saturday and hope we can get a bumper crowd at nib Stadium and another three points to extend our lead at the top of the league” he said.

Tickets to the match between Hyundai A-League leaders Perth Glory FC and the Central Coast Mariners can be purchased here.

Kick-off is at 6.30 pm.
