Perth Glory has revealed their new 2013/14 Macron-designed playing strip in front of a capacity crowd at the State Theatre Centre last night.

The state Theatre Centre provided a great venue for the 250 guests made up of corporate sponsors, 2013/14 members and media who were treated to a great night of entertainment and football insight courtesy of one-on-one interviews with Head Coach Alistair Edwards, Captain Jacob Burns, 16-year-old rising star Daniel De Silva and 2012/13 Most Glorious Player Runner Up Scott Jamieson.

Macron are an Italian-based manufacturing company who provide the playing kits for teams such as SSC Napoli, SS Lazio, Aston Villa and Leeds United but it is the first time they have sponsored an A-League team.

Perth Glory General Manager Anthony Radich said the night was a great success.

“After 15 months of consultation, it was enormously satisfying to see our vision for the kit come to life,” he said.

“Macron has produced a kit that has exceeded our expectations and lived up to its values of quality, design and attention to detail.”

Managing Director of Macron Oceania, David King, was equally excited with the Perth Glory relationship.

“What a fantastic night. We appreciate the opportunity given to us by Perth Glory and the faith shown by Anthony to allow Macron its first huge step into the Oceania region,” he said.

“After all their hard work the kit has come out amazing and showcases what Macron can achieve.”

“We are all ready for the first home game and an exciting season ahead,” he added.

The club has changed their home strip from the traditional purple and white thick stripes to a predominantly two-tone purple design with thinner white stripes.

Perth Glory Captain Burns was a big fan of the new strip.

“It-s a fantastic strip and I think it-s one that will be very popular with our fans,” he said.

While Ryan Edwards has echoed the thoughts of fans on social media, tweeting “Loving the new kit by #macron. Great fun at the season launch tonight! Buzzing for season to start!@PerthGloryFC #nogutsnoglory #bepartofit”

The night also allowed players a chance to display Glory’s other off-field apparel in a relaxed and enjoyable catwalk environment

Chris Harold looked particularly comfortable strutting across the stage while Michael Thwaite lived up to his reputation as the best dancer in the team by grooving across the stage.

Steve Pantelidis also had a bit of fun with the crowd, stripping off his supporter jacket to show everyone his abs and the benefits of a full pre-season.

The away strip remains largely unchanged from last season, sticking to the white with strong purple and orange lines through the middle, but the manufacturer marks on the shoulder have been removed while a small collar has been added.

The club deliberately chose not to make any changes to the away strip leaving it the opportunity to make developments for the 2014/15 Season.

The new home kit is available for pre-order through the club on (08) 9492 6000 while it will be available through retail outlets in the next couple of weeks.
