Perth Glory defender Scott Neville says his first game back from a knee injury was “pretty tough” but it was also pain free.

The 23 year old yesterday played 45 minutes for Glory Youth, his first competitive game since damaging his lateral ligament in November.

“It was good to be back but also it was pretty tough, Brisbane Youth are a good team,” Neville said.

“I-ve still got a lot of work to do but I got through the 45 minutes pain free.

“The knee felt fine and I could-ve played more minutes but I was always scheduled to play just the first half.

“The Youth team have another game this weekend so I am looking forward to playing some more minutes to improve my match fitness.

Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson and was at the game and pleased to see Neville make a successful return after a long layoff.

“It was good to get Scott back out on the park,” Ferguson said.

“He got through a couple of tough tackles which will also give his confidence.

“To have Scott playing again is a positive for us at this stage of the season.”
