The Award Winners

Michael Thwaite was the big winner on the night as he took out the award for Most Glorious Player of the Year, beating the likes of Danny Vukovic and Scott Jamieson, who were both early contenders for the award despite missing a majority of the season from going on loan and injuries to Vukovic and Jamieson, respectfully.

Thwaite was one of the most successful on the night having also won the Volunteers Player of the year award along with an inaugural award being ABC 720-s Home Ground Hero award, presented to him by ABC commentator, Travis Dodd who he, himself won Best Clubman.

Despite Thwaite winning three awards on the night, there was still room for Vukovic and Sidnei to both win two awards each.

Sidnei walked away having won ‘Goal of the Year- after his stunning strike from 25 yards out against the Phoenix, as well as bagging the QBE Supporters Man of the match award. The QBE Man of the Match award is another inaugural award which highlights supporter-s interaction on Game Days thanks to QBE.

In the week leading up to the MGP, supporters would have also been involved in the ‘Supporters Player of the Year Award- voting process on our web-site. The night crowned the winner, sort of, with Vukovic accepting the award along with the ‘Player-s Player of the Year Award- all the way from Japan with a video message for the Club and those that voted for him.

This season also saw plenty of Young Guns who were in contention for ‘Young Player of the Year Award- as well as the ‘Most Glorious NYL Player of the Year Award-.

Jacob Collard, who can be seen in this year-s National Premier Leagues promotional video-s, was this year-s Most Glorious NYL player of the Year whilst Chris Harold was voted Young Player of the Year.

Despite many prize winners being a surprise on the night, one that everybody knew before heading into the Crown was the ‘Bobby Despetovski Golden Boot Award-. Steven McGarry and Shane Smeltz both shared the Prize this year, taking home a crystal statue to remember the night with.
