Midweek Matters

Thumbnail

Ok, Thursday might not technically be midweek, but there are definitely some matters to round up…

Big Weekend

All three Glory sides are in action this weekend after our Westfield W-Leaguers enjoyed the bye last week.

Bobby Despotovski’s charges face Newcastle Jets at McDonald-Jones Stadium on Saturday evening in a top-of-the-table clash that will overrun into our home Hyundai A-League clash with Wellington Phoenix (kick off 7pm).

Our Foxtel Y-League team, meanwhile, will be out to secure their first win of the campaign when they host Melbourne Victory at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday (kick off 10.30am).

Welcome Return

Glory’s midfield options could be boosted on Saturday with Joel Chianese and Andreu both in contention for squad places.

The former is yet to feature in the A-League this season after cracking his collar bone in training, while the latter has been sidelined by a calf injury since our last meeting with Phoenix in Round 6.

Both have pressed their selection claims by training strongly this week.

May Missing

Shannon May is the only notable absentee from our Westfield W-League squad ahead of their trip to Newcastle.

Jaymee Gibbons steps in for the long-serving midfielder who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Glory, who currently lead the ladder on goal difference, will be seeking their fifth win of the campaign at the expense of the second-placed Jets.

Home Comforts

Glory have lost only three of 12 home Hyundai A-League games in 2017.

The other nine games yielded eight wins and a solitary draw.

Kenny Lowe’s side scored a total of 23 goals across those games, five of which came in last season’s Round 27 thriller against Melbourne City.

Travel Troubles

Wellington have won on only five of their 16 previous trips to nib Stadium, with the most recent of those victories coming in October 2015

The Kiwi side lost twice here at nib Stadium last season, in Rounds 2 and 14 and they are yet to record a victory on the road this season (D1, L3).

Christmas Hours

The Glory Team Store will be open as normal Monday to Friday (9am – 5pm) next week, so make sure you drop by to stock up on all your festive goodies.

It will then be closed from Saturday 23rd December,  before reopening at 9am on Tuesday 2nd January.

The same hours apply to the club office over the Christmas period.
