Perth Glory Women have secured the signatures of three vital players from last year’s Westfield W-League squad.

The club is pleased to welcome back midfield general Shannon May, as well as Young Matilda Sarah Carroll and talented defender Thia Eastman.

Head Coach Bobby Despotovski’s recruitment drive now includes 7 players, after the acquisition of Matildas Sam Kerr, Caitlin Foord, Mackenzie Arnold and Kim Carroll.

The Perth Glory club legend is pleased with the Glory Women’s squad recruitment so far this off-season.

“We are building for a new season ahead and I’m pleased with the talent we have on board. We’ve still got a few more excting players to announce and that will come in due course” he said.

The recruitment of Shannon May is particularly pleasing for Glory following Collette McCallum’s retirement after last season.

With May entering her 7th straight season in purple, the 24-year-old offers a no-nonsense, defensive side to Glory’s game, allowing creative players like Kerr and Foord to drive forward with comfort.

May was also awarded Perth Glory Women’s Most Glorious Player in 2009, and has 64 caps and 2 goals to her name.

The contract extension of Sarah Carroll is also a cause for excitement; the 20-year-old Young Matilda already has 37 Perth Glory FC caps to her name, and has the talent to become a Matildas regular in the future. Carroll came through Football West’s NTC program and wore the number 2 through last season.

Centre-back Thia Eastman also rejoins the Glory squad for a third straight season, after impressing in her ten Perth Glory caps. Eastman is recognised for her composure on the ball and her ability to distribute from the back. Eastman’s talent will be vital to Glory’s premiership defence in the coming Westfield W-League season.

All three footballers have begun training with the squad and Despotovski.
