Match of the week

Adelaide United has received a huge boost on the eve of Friday’s match of the week against Perth Glory with star striker Matthew Leckie released from the Young Socceroos camp.

Adelaide United has received a huge boost on the eve of Friday-s match of the week against Perth Glory with star striker Matthew Leckie released from the Young Socceroos camp.

The A-League-s hottest forward – with 4 goals – will now line-up for the Reds, in the top three showdown after he was granted leave by Football Federation Australia (FFA) to return to Adelaide for the match against Perth

“We worked it out a couple of days ago (how we would line up without Leckie) but then we heard the news that he was available, so that was the reason we didn-t have to change something in the last training session,” Adelaide United Coach Rini Coolen said.

“I-m real happy. You want to play with the whole team that you played with in the last couple of weeks, and Leckie was in it and an important player for us.

“At the start of the week we thought we couldn-t play with him, but something changed in the last couple of days…so he can play tomorrow.

“He is really fresh and fit, and he-s really looking forward to playing the game tomorrow. He is ready and he is focused,” Coolen concluded.
