Glory Head Coach Tony Popovic has confirmed that his players are relishing the prospect of meeting Hyundai A-League opposition in the Surf City Cup which gets underway at the Croatian Sports Centre in Carrara on Friday (kick off at 6.30pm local time).

The opening game will see the men in purple take on Brisbane Roar who will then face Newcastle Jets on Sunday, before Glory round things off against the Jets on Tuesday.

Glory arrived on the Gold Coast on Monday for an intensive training camp ahead of the two Surf City Cup games and Popovic has been pleased with the commitment and industry that his players have shown.

Brisbane Roar, meanwhile, will be backing up just two days after a gruelling FFA Cup Round of 16 tie with Central Coast Mariners which they eventually lost on penalties.

Former Glory man Scott Neville was forced off during that game with a neck injury and remains a doubt for Friday, but boss Robbie Fowler should have the rest of his squad available for selection, including new recruits Roy O’Donovan, Tom Aldred, Jay O’Shea and Macaulay Gillesphey.

Tony Popovic’s side secured an impressive treble over the Queenslanders in the Hyundai A-League last term, scoring ten goals in the process.
