MATCH PREVIEW: Glory vs Mariners

Perth Glory FC will aim to cement its spot in the top-six of the Hyundai A-League when it hosts tenth placed Central Coast Mariners at nib Stadium on Saturday night.

Buoyed by the re-signing of home grown Socceroo Josh Risdon for another year, Glory is hoping for another massive crowd on the back of its six wins from its last seven matches.

All eyes will be on how current Mariners’ (and former Barcelona and Liverpool) star Luis Garcia locks horns with fellow Spaniard and Glory ace Diego Castro.

Perth’s marquee man has set the A-League on fire, scoring ten goals so far and is tipped to win plenty of A-League accolades.

Glory coach Kenny Lowe warned though that the Mariners deserved immense respect and weren’t to be taken lightly.

“I saw them play Victory last week and they were very difficult to play against” he said.

“They had some opportunities and they’ve got their front four which is the most attacking they’ve had all year. O’Donovan is back, Austin on one side, Ferreira on the other, Garcia in from behind. If you take that lightly you’re a fool. We won’t be taking that lightly at all.

“The players want to go to a certain place, they know what they need to do” Lowe said.

The match will be dedicated to talented Perth footballer and West Ham United rising star, Dylan Tombides, who tragically died from testicular cancer in 2014, after a three year battle.

The club is urging all fans to applaud at the 38th minute of in honour of Dylan and his foundation.

The Round 23 Hyundai A-League clash, between Glory and Central Coast will be followed by the QBE Night Series Final between Bayswater City and Stirling Lions FC.

Perth Glory will kick-off its match at 6.40pm.
