Match Preview – Kenny’s tipping a thriller

Glory Head Coach is expecting Saturday’s everything-on-the-line clash with Brisbane Roar at nib Stadium to be a thriller.

Both sides must win in order to keep their finals hopes alive, while also relying on Western Sydney not to claim all three points from their meeting with Adelaide United on Sunday.

And Lowe believes the scene is set for a possible goal-fest here in the West.

“We can’t control anything else, so we just have to win our game,” he said. “That’s all that matters and I’m sure Brisbane will be approaching it in exactly the same way as they have the same thing to play for.

“I’m sure it’ll be  an entertaining and open game. If someone’s getting beaten, they’re going to have to chase the game and 0-0 is no good to anyone. I don’t think it’ll be a 6-3 game like it was a couple of years ago, but we’ve already had a 3-2 game this year which was really entertaining and end to end and I’m sure this one will be exactly the same.

“It’s good for the A-League that it comes to this, with a number of different things that could happen. It’s just a pity that all the games aren’t kicking off at the same time.”

Lowe went on to confirm that he will have the rare luxury of a full squad from which to make his final selection and that his charges are absolutely raring to go.

“We haven’t got any injuries,” he said. “Not everyone’s 100% but hopefully we can nurse everyone through.

“A few players have had a disjointed year and they’re really focused upon this game to try and extend the season so that they can get more games. I said all along we’d play well when we had everybody fit and the players have proved me right in that respect. “Hopefully now we can get something out of this game, Sunday’s result goes our way and we kick on into the finals.”

Brisbane, who will be searching for their first win at nib Stadium since January 2013, welcome Corey Brown back into their squad but will be without several other defenders including Luke DeVere and former Glory man, Jade North.
