Out of contract at the end of this season, Makarounas requested an early release to explore other opportunities.
Perth Glory did offer Makarounas a new deal for next season, and the teenager was a player coach Ian Ferguson wanted to keep, but Makarounas decided he wanted to move on.
Since joining Perth Glory in 2011, Makarounas made four substitute appearances for the club.
