LOWE COMES HOME TO SPEARWOOD

Perth Glory FC coach Kenny Lowe says Wednesday’s friendly at Dalmatinac Park against NPL outfit Cockburn City will be used as a genuine hit out, in preparation for September’s FFA Cup round of 16.

Glory is the only remaining team, flying the flag for WA and the match against City will see a full strength squad take to the pitch.

“We’ll be using it as solid preparation for when we take on St Albans Saints in Melbourne in September” Lowe said.

“The fans can expect to see some of the new signings on the field, but of course Ruben Zadkovich and Rostyn Griffiths will be missing as they continue to recover from their injuries”.

For Lowe going back to “Dally Park “is like coming home.

It was while playing for Spearwood Dalmatinac , where Lowe carved his name in the history books, by winning the Rothmans Gold Medal in 1986, in what was his first and only season in the WA state league.

“We won the league that year and I made some very good friendships. In fact some of them have been forged because of that single year in my life and looking back it was probably the best footballing year of my life” Lowe added.

A venue is yet to be determined for the Westfield FFA Cup match against St Albans but the game will be played either on September 16 or 23.

Kick off for Wednesday’s match between Perth Glory FC and Cockburn City is 7.00 pm.
