Liam’s Reddy for Jersey Day – are you?!

This Friday (August 30) is the big day when you can join Liam and a host of other big names from the world of sport and beyond in helping to raise awareness of The Organ and Tissue Authority and the Donate Life network.

You can get involved in a number of ways, from wearing your favourite jersey to work or school, to simply having the discussion with your loved ones about organ donation.

There’s no requirements to raise funds, but please make sure you help spread awareness by using the hashtags #jerseydayau and #donatelife.

The Jersey Day concept was inspired by young Natahn Gremmo who was tragically lost in an accident in may 2015.

Nathan’s family chose to give the gift of life to others to honour the legacy of Nathan’s generous personality.

One organ and tissue donor can transform the lives of many people and Australia is a world leader for successful transplants.

In 2018 alone, 1782 lives were saved through transplantation, which is double the amount that were saved in 2009.

However, around 1400 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant, a further 11,000 are on dialysis who would benefit from a kidney transplant and yet only one in three Australians are registered donors.

“It’s a fantastic cause,” said Reddy, “and I would urge all our members and fans to get involved whether that’s by wearing a jersey on Friday or by having a chat with their family about organ donation and joining the Australian Organ Donor Register.
