Let-s Play Fourz – Maylands Primary School

On Thursday the 29th of September Maylands Primary School was the scene of a Let-s Play Fourz community and development initiative.

Let-s Play Fourz is a physical, social and educational development program for year 2 – 7. We have aligned our small sided games philosophy with the Primary School physical education curriculum.

180 students from year 2 and 3 of Maylands Primary School were the beneficiaries of the excellent coaching from Perth Glory FC-s community and development staff led by Michael Garcia.

Community and Development Officer Michael Garcia commented,

“I was particularly impressed with the attitude and skill level of the students. They were a pleasure to coach. The work rate demonstrated by each pupil was testament to the dynamic and challenging environment created by our community and development coaches.”

“It was obvious to me the popularity of the world game is very strong at the grass roots level and we as the A league club in Western Australia will continue to offer these free clinics to ensure we have an active presence in the community.”

Maylands Primary School teacher Narelle Elver agreed,

“All the students really enjoyed the coaching sessions from Perth Glory. The interaction between the coaches and the students was first class and I was really impressed with the amount of drink and rest periods Michael allowed as the weather was extremely hot!”

PGFC community and development coaches organised technique and skill exercises that led to a small sided games tournament. The reward for the student-s hard work and positive attitudes was a free ticket voucher to watch Perth Glory play!

The next Let-s Play Fourz primary school clinics are at the following dates and venues

• Thursday 10th November – Weld Square Primary School
12pm – 3pm

• Thursday 17th November – Caversham Primary School
12pm – 3pm
