Perth Glory Women has scooped the pool at Australian football’s night of nights- the Dolan Warren Awards- with club legend Bobby Despotovski and club captain Samantha Kerr taking out top honours at the gala event in Sydney tonight.

In only his second year coaching the Women’s team, Despotovski led Perth to its second W-League Grand Final in three seasons earlier this year.

Despotovski adds the accolade to an already impressive awards list, which includes four MGP (Most Glorious Player) trophies and the inaugural Johnny Warren medal.

After an outstanding Olympics tournament in Rio, Kerr led from the front for the 2016/17 season, scoring 10 goals along the way.

The 23-year old also picked up the W-League Goal of the Year as well as being voted the Julie Dolan medal winner- the W-League’s highest honour.

Kerr received 23 points and was followed by Katrina Gorry (Brisbane Roar FC – 21 points), Sofia Huerta (Adelaide United – 17 points), Natasha Dowie (Melbourne Victory – 13 points), Ashleigh Sykes (Canberra United – 11 points) and Megan Oyster (Newcastle Jets – 11 points).

The club’s Hyundai A-League Spanish sensation Diego Castro finished second in the Johnny Warren Medal count- the award going to Serbian playmaker Milos Ninkovic of Sydney FC.
