Highly-rated Glory youngsters Jayden Gorman and Daniel Walsh will head overseas on international duty later this month after being named in the Joeys squad for the 2018 AFC Under-16 Championship.

The tournament, which is being held in Malaysia, will see the Aussies take on Korea Republic, Iraq and Afghanistan in the group stage, with their opening game scheduled for 22nd September.

Trevor Morgan’s side qualified in style by topping their group and should they reach the semis, will snare a place as one of Asia representatives for the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup which is being held in Peru.

Gorman and Walsh have both been rewarded for stellar NPL WA campaigns in which the former has scored a remarkable 29 goals in only 17 games for the PGFC Academy Under-18s, while despite still being only 15, the latter has been a defensive mainstay for the First Team who finished second and have reached Saturday’s Top Four Cup Final.

Glory Football Director Jacob Burns is delighted that both players will have the opportunity to shine on the international stage and is confident that they will benefit from the tournament experience.

“We’re extremely proud of Jayden and Daniel’s selection,” he said.

“It’s a wonderful reward for all the hard work that they’ve put in since joining the club via our development centres at the age of 9.

“Both are a credit to their families, the club and themselves and their selection is another glowing endorsement of the great work being undertaken within our two-star PGFC Academy.

“Jayden and Daniel are dedicated individuals capable of performing at the highest level of youth football and we’d like to wish them all the very best for the tournament.”
