The Perth Glory FC family was devastated to hear about the tragic passing of Leanne Russo, wife of team physio Gary, who last month, lost her two year battle with breast cancer.

Gary has been a club physio since the National Soccer League days and Leanne’s loss, left players and staff in tears.

This week, to help honour Leanne’s memory and support Gary and his two young children Ilana (5) and Jaden (2), the club’s head physiotherapist, Chris Hutchinson, shaved his head to help raise funds for the family.

With a bit of help from Lisa at Brad’s Barber Shop in Carine Glades Shopping Centre, ‘Hutcho’ is now sporting a new look.

Through the effort of many, ‘Hutcho’ managed has raised nearly six-thousand dollars to help the Russo family.

“I’m really happy with the results and I know that Gaz will be blown over by everyone’s generosity” Hutchinson said.

“At this stage the Russo family is taking one day at a time and I hope this money can help Gaz to spend time with his kids to help the healing process” he said.

Leanne was only 36, when she lost her battle to the killer disease.

Last March Leanne and Gary walked 60 kilometers in the “Weekend To End Women’s Cancers”, where Leanne was the top fundraiser, raising over 17-thousand dollars for cancer research.

According to leading research breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australian women accounting for 28 per cent of all new cancers in women.
