With more goals and wins in his sights, Perth Glory FC winger Chris Harold believes teams sitting above the club on the Hyundai A-League table should be getting nervous having to confront the in-form Western Australians.
After scoring his fifth goal in as many matches during the team’s 2-1 victory against Sydney FC on Saturday, which also marked Glory’s fourth consecutive win, Harold believes the best is yet to come.
“Looking at all the teams around us we’re definitely in the best form at the moment so that’s a very good thing for us”
“I think everyone doesn’t want to play us now. Earlier in the season people may have looked at playing us and thought that’s a good thing but now everything has changed” he said.
“The A-League is pretty even most of the time, obviously Brisbane has been very good this year. But they’re coming over here and I’ve said it a lot of times before, teams don’t like coming over to Perth.
“The fact that we’re on a four game winning streak and we’re playing at home is a very big thing for us.”
Defender Shane Lowry echoed Harold’ sentiments and stressed that a finals berth was a priority.
“I said when I first came here I wanted to make the finals. “I was deadly serious.
“I don’t think people took me very seriously, but I was deadly serious when I made the comment.
“We’ve got to keep working hard and doing the things that have got us results away from home and take that into our home games as well.”
In a sign of positive things to come for the club, veteran defender Dino Djulbic returned to on-field training after a three month injured ankle. The 33-year old is expected to be in contention to play within the next two weeks.
Saturday’s clash against the Roar kicks-off at nib Stadium at 6.40pm
