An 89th minute goal from Golgol Mebrahtu has given Melbourne Heart a dramatic 1-0 win against Perth Glory at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

Perth Glory captain Jacob Burns said the team was punished again, for not making the most of their chances throughout the game.

“It-s disappointing but that-s football,” Burns said.

“If you don-t take your chances, they are always likely to catch you on the break and that-s what happened today.

After an even first half, the game opened up after the break with Perth Glory twice coming within inches of opening the scoring.

The first chance fell to Travis Dodd on 62 minutes whose shot on goal was brilliantly saved by Clint Bolton from close range.

Steven McGarry then hit the outside of the post with a curling 20 meter free-kick from 20 meters seven minutes later.

And with the game heading for a draw, substitute Mebrahtu sealed the victory with his first goal in the Hyundai A-League.

In an explosive counter attack, Josip Tadic sprinted through his attacking half, drawing three Perth Glory players before his slipped a pass to Mebrahtu who calmly slotted it past Danny Vukovic for the winner.

Despite the loss, Burns urged his team to remain positive.

“The way we are playing, and the chances we are creating, we-ll take positives out of it.

“But at the end of the day we-ve got to take a look at ourselves, it-s another loss on the road so this is not where we want to be.

“We-ll work hard this week and try and turn it around against Newcastle,” the captain added.
