Perth Glory is continuing to expand its footprint in Asia by forging closer links with Malaysian powerhouse Kedah FA.

Earlier this week, Club Advisor Tony Hughes and his son Mark were guests of the 2019 Malaysia FA Cup winners as they embarked on their Asian Champions League campaign against Hong Kong’s Tai Po.

In front of 20,000 passionate supporters, the hosts secured an emphatic 5-1 victory to set up a final play-off clash with Korean side FC Seoul set to take place next week.

Discussions with the Executive of Kedah FA and Football Federation Malaysia focused on potential opportunities and pathways for academy players, with Tony touring the club’s newly-developed training ground and recently upgraded Darul Aman Stadium.

There was also an opportunity to discuss the progress of Malaysian football at a national level with Malaysian Head Coach, Tan Cheng Hoe.

Malaysia are currently sitting second in Group G in the second stage of World Cup qualification, a position which reflects the significant development of the game at all levels in the country.
