Perth Glory Youth side are back in Foxtel National Youth League action on Sunday when they host Melbourne Victory at Ashfield Reserve kicking off at 10.30am.

Missed chances came back to haunt them last week in their 3-0 loss to Adelaide United, and midfielder Calvin Whitney said they will need to improve against a good Victory side this week.

“We did have some opportunities last week and couldn’t finish them off, but overall we just didn’t play as good as we could have, and we’ll be looking to put that right on Sunday,” Whitney said.

The last tiime the two teams faced off, Melbourne came away 3-0 winners against the Glory youngsters.

“I think Sunday will be a close game. The last time we played them they had a number of A-League players in their side, but we are ready for a tough game and are determined to get our first three points of the season.”

Several members of the new look Glory have had to show off their versatility, as players have been forced to fill new roles on the pitch.

“We’ve had a lot of players playing in different positions than normal due to injuries, but it gives the younger players the chance to show that they deserve a spot in the side,” Whitney said.

“Again this week we will have a few new faces making their debuts, but we are all focused on the game and putting in a good shift and getting the three points.”

Skipper Jacob Collard returns to the side after travelling with the Hyundai A-League squad last week, while defender Alex Susnjar returns from suspension.

The match kicks-off at 10.30am on Sunday at Ashfield Reserve.

Entry is free for all Perth Glory members.
