Perth Glory hits the road this week, in Round Five of the PS4 NPL WA, as the team heads to Dorrien Gardens on Saturday afternoon to take on Champions Perth Soccer Club.
The youngsters will be looking to bounce back from last week’s loss against Balcatta, and add to their first round win at Armadale.
Glory midfielder Michael McDougall said last week’s defeat has highlighted where they need to improve.
“I think the defeat on the weekend was a real wake up call to all of us involved in the game, it proved that we have to come into the game sharp from the start otherwise there will be consequences,” he said.
“It highlighted that the slightest errors are fatal and a game may be over before it even started due to these lapses in concentration.
“I feel our performance was nowhere near good enough, but that’s football and we have to make sure we don’t perform like that again.”
“Taking on the Champions is one we’re definitely looking forward too, it’ll be a great opportunity for all of us to show what we have, and prove that we can really push for something this year,” he said.
Glory Head Coach John Gibson said the players have been working hard this week and are focused on improving.
“As a group we spoke openly and honestly about the shortcomings last week against Balcatta and look to rectify them this weekend.
“We respect everyone we play against but we fear no one – the group is always positive and super competitive.”
Gibson said he and the players are relishing the opportunity to take on the Champions, and he is positive the youngsters will put in a good performance.
“Every game is all about us and what we do,” he said.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
The U-18s and U-20s kick-off at 11am and 1pm respectively.
