Perth Glory interim head coach Ian Ferguson and young star Scott Neville can both see the positives despite Saturday night’s 2-nil loss away to Melbourne Victory. Here is the post game reaction from both camps.

Perth Glory interim head coach Ian Ferguson:

“Overall I thought the boys competed well and it’s probably the best we’ve played for a long, long time.

“If we can play the way we played in the first half hopefully we can pick up some points.”

Perth Glory defender Scott Neville:

“The first-half the boys played really well, but to concede so close to half-time was a big loss for us and then we switched off for the second goal.

“If we put in the effort we showed tonight and the past few weeks were things haven’t quite gone our way, we’ll climb the ladder.

“We take each game as it comes and look for maximum points in every game.

“We never stopped fighting and we won’t stop fighting. We want to give this league a shake-up and hopefully we can start climbing the ladder.”

Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick:

“The most important thing was we got the result, and I think we’ve played a fraction better at times this season and not got a result.

“The defence was great … and going forward I thought we were always going to cause them problems, and we did.”
