Glory on track to hit record memberships

Perth Glory Football Club is well on track to achieve its record membership of 8500 after breaking through the 5000 barrier today.

The tally to date of 5107, equates to a 40 per-cent surge in memberships compared to the same time last year when 3400 Glory faithful signed on.

It’s also a significant jump on the 2014/15 fugure when 3209 members were on the club’s books during the same time.

Club CEO Peter Filopoulos said the increase in demand and appeal was attributed to the team’s amazing turn around during the back-half of last season, coupled with pro-active recruitment which resulted in 14 home-grown players.

“There’s no doubt our great run last year has helped build a great sense of anticipation, however, one cannot underestimate the effect of our increased focus on our membership and fan engagement,” he said

“We are constantly listening and are in dialogue with our fans and members, as we aspire to build a club in which all Western Australians are proud of.

“Re-signing the Hyundai A-League player of the year and club MGP (Most Glorious Player) Diego Castro, bringing back Socceroos Adam Taggart and hys Williams and re-signing favourite sons Josh Risdon and Rostyn Griffiths has all helped create an exciting environment which the fans and members can sense and it’s pleasing there’s been a positive response”.

“But the job isn’t done yet. We’ve got aspirations and plenty of off-field goals to score, however we’re confident of achieving our target of 8500 members and will not stop there as we strive towards 10,000 and above in the not too distant future” he said.

Glory will travel to Queensland next week to face Brisbane Roar in its RD 32 Westfield FFA Cup clash at Ballymore Stadium.
