Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that highly-rated young defender Claudia Mihocic has signed a long-term deal with the club.

The 18-year-old is a current Young Matildas representative who was previously capped at Junior Matildas level and has been in sparkling form for FV Emerging in the NPL Victoria competition this season.

Having established herself as one of the most promising prospects in the country, she is now relishing the opportunity to make the step up to W-League level with Glory.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Alex Epakis [Head Coach] and he’s really been trying to get me to come over and that’s really helped with the move,” she said.
“Perth Glory in general is a great club and I’m very excited to get over there and get started.
“I want to make my W-League debut and get some game-time, prove myself in a new environment, push myself, become a better player and make a big contribution to the team.”
Epakis, meanwhile, is looking forward to seeing Mihocic fulfil her huge potential as part of Glory’s squad in 2021/22 and beyond.

“We are excited that Claudia has chosen to commit to Perth Glory for the next few seasons,” he said.

“She is a natural central defender with great ball-winning and passing ability.

“Claudia also has a fantastic mentality and level of leadership for such a young person, as shown by the fact that she is currently captain of Football Victoria Emerging.

“We are pleased that she has selected Perth Glory as the best home for her over the next few years and I am excited to work closely with her in ensuring that she is ready to represent the club proudly.”

Glory CEO Tony Pignata is pleased to see another gifted prospect deciding to join what he believes is an exciting project currently underway at the club.

“Claudia, like a number of the other young players that we have signed in recent weeks, clearly feels that Perth Glory is the best place to continue her development and launch what I am sure will be a long and successful W-League career,” he said.

“Alex Epakis is working hard to lay the foundations for sustained success by assembling a talented and industrious squad and Claudia has the potential to be a key figure within that squad for next season and beyond.”

Further Westfield W-League signings are set to be announced in the near future.
