Perth Glory is delighted to announce the signing of Amanda Frisbie and the re-signing of Nikki Stanton for the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season.
US Under-23 international Frisbie arrives fresh from a strong campaign for Boston Breakers in the National Women’s Soccer League, having previously plied her trade with Seattle Reign, Western New York Flash, FC Kansas City and Icelandic club, Stjarnan Women.
And Glory’s W-League General Manager, Callum Salmon, feels that the 25-year-old will prove a huge asset to Bobby Despotovski’s squad.
“Amanda is a left-sided centre-half who will offer balance to our defence,” he said.
“She can also step into midfield to create overloads, has a great passing range and is a hard tackler with a winning mentality.
“Pace is another of her key assets and we feel that she will complement our other international recruits very nicely.”
Stanton, meanwhile, returns for a third season with the club having become a firm fans’ favourite thanks to her all-action displays in midfield.
Like her compatriot Frisbie, Stanton shone in the NWSL last term, totalling 16 appearances en route to taking out the Unsung Hero award for her club side, Sky Blue FC.
The 26-year-old is expected to be a key figure for Glory once again this year and Salmon is delighted that she is back on board.
“Nikki was one of the real driving forces in our run to the Grand Final last season,” he said.
“She is a key part of our structure with the discipline that she brings to that defensive midfield role.
"That ability, combined with her bravery and work ethic, places her among the top five midfielders in the W-League in our opinion.
“Nikki is also an excellent character off the field, a role model for our younger players and a real leader in the group.”
Both Frisbie and Stanton are expected to feature at nib Stadium on Friday night when Glory open their new campaign with an eagerly-anticipated Grand Final re-match against Melbourne City.
