Perth Glory is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Daniel Margush has signed for the club.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal which covers the 2020/21 and 2021/22 Hyundai A-League seasons and also renders him eligible for Glory’s 2020 AFC Champions League campaign.

Born and raised in Adelaide, he came through the youth ranks at Adelaide United and eventually debuted for the senior team against Central Coast Mariners in January 2016.

Margush went on to play seven times for the Reds, while also featuring regularly for Australia at Under-20 level and duly established himself as one of the most promising young ‘keepers in the country.

After parting company with Adelaide earlier this month, he is excited by the prospect of launching a new chapter in his career with Glory.

“This is a great opportunity for me and it was definitely the right time for me to try and look for regular first-team football,” he said.

“Watching from afar what Tony Popovic has done at the clubs he’s been at, it’s always an intriguing package that he puts together and I’m excited to be a part of it now.

“I think it can all go really well and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Glory Football Director Jacob Burns, meanwhile, revealed that the club had been monitoring the 1.87m shot-stopper’s progress for some time.

“Daniel is someone we’ve always admired and long-believed would be a great acquisition,” he said, “so we’re extremely pleased to have brought him on board.

“He’s a highly-talented young goalkeeper with both A-League and Olyroos experience under his belt and we’re sure that he will add further competition and depth to what is already a very competitive squad.”

In other squad news, Perth Glory can confirm that defender Riley Warland has parted company with the club by mutual consent.

The club would like to thank Riley for his service and wish him all the very best for the future.
