Perth Glory has added outstanding young West Australian attacker Tommy Amphlett to their squad following the move of striker Anthony Skorich to the long term injury list.

Skorich has endured a frustrating run of injuries this season, his first in the Hyundai A-League, and his latest foot problem will sideline him for at least six weeks.

That has opened the door for Amphlett who has been one of the standout players in the Football West Premier League over a number of seasons. He caught the eye of Glory Coach Dave Mitchell with his tenacious performances for ECU Joondalup and has been training with the Glory squad over the past three weeks.

“I-ve seen Tommy a number of times in the state league and was impressed with the way he went about his football,” Mitchell said.

“He is a bright young lad with a good cross and a proven ability to find the back of the net.

“It-s disappointing for Anthony being out but he is working hard to come back as soon as he can. In the meantime we-re happy to be able to give another quality young Perth product the chance to perform on the big stage,” said Mitchell.

The 21 year old has received clearance from Football Federation Australia and is eligible for selection ahead of Glory-s match against Sydney FC at ME Bank Stadium on Sunday.
